Misfit Spice Lazy Hash Browns & Eggs

Everyone loves a good breakfast but making your own hash browns can be time consuming. Our recipe below is a great use of tater tots and is quick and easy. This recipe is easy to customize to your own taste along the way. Pictures are below for your reference.

  • Start your Hash Browns

    • your tots are frozen so put them in a non-stick pan on low heat to start to thaw. You can cover them if you’d like to help thaw a little quicker but they will do well without. (you can use any size tots. Some places you can buy shredded frozen potatoes and they work great too. Of course you can always use real potatoes, cubed or shredded if you’d like but par boil them first)

    • The amount is up to you. What you see in tots is what you get in hash browns so decide on your portion size as you put them in the pan

  • Start your veggies

    • I usually use some bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms. I’ll add some of a spicier pepper if I have them. A small to medium dice is good. The amount is relative to the tots you are making and your personal preference.

    • Saute your veggies in a separate pan with a little oil. (You want them to be about 3/4 cooked when you add them to the potatoes. Once thawed the potatoes will cook pretty quick and the veggies won’t keep up if not sauteed first.). Season your veggies with Misfit Spice

  • Mash your tots, season, and combine.

    • While your veggies continue to saute, use the back of wooden spoon or other utensil to mash the tots in the pan. If they are still too frozen just give them a little more time. They should mash easily. Once fully mashed, season with Misfit spice (see pics below).

    • Add your veggies to the tots. I like to add 5-6 dashes of some hot sauce like Texas Pete and a 3-4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Mix everything well so the sauces and seasons are well mixed in. (if the tots still seem very dry you can add a little oil as well but be careful as they will become oily very quick if you add to much). Spread into an even layer and turn up the heat to med-high. Let them sit and cook for a few minutes. You want them to start to crisp up, just don’t let them start to burn. Stir occasionally.

    • Hash browns are done once they reach your preference level of being cooked/crisped.

  • Having some Eggs? Spice them up with Misfit spice

    • If you are cooking some over easy or sunny side eggs, shake some Misfit spice on them right after you put them in the pan

    • Scrambled your choice? add Misfit spice to the eggs while you scramble them up
