Stovetop Misfit Popcorn
This easy recipe results in a bowl full of buttery, spicy popcorn goodness. Here’s what you’ll need:
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
2 TBSP oil (we used canola, but you can try avocado or coconut oil)
2 TBSP of butter (or more…to taste)
Misfit Spice Original Blend (to taste)
Let’s get poppin’!
Put the oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add 2-3 kernels of popcorn. Wait for the kernels to pop.
Once the kernel pops, add the 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels in an even layer.
Cover and remove from heat for 30 seconds (Counting out loud makes it even more fun!)
This method first heats the oil to the right temperature, then waiting 30 seconds brings all of the other kernels to a near-popping temperature so that when they are put back on the heat, they all pop at about the same time.
Return pot to the heat. Using over mitts, keep the lid slightly ajar (to help the steam from popcorn release) and gently shake by moving back and forth over the burner.
Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat
Remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl.
Melt your butter in the same pot or in the microwave. Add Misfit Spices to your butter once melted.
Coat your popcorn with the Misfit butter.
This is much easier if your have a friend to shake the bowl of popcorn as you drizzle the butter.
Shake a little extra Misfit Spice on your delicious snack and ENJOY.
