Misfit Shrimp Rice Bowl
Need a quick weeknight dinner? Look no further! We whipped up some blackened shrimp using Misfit Spices Bringin’ Heat and served it with some Asian Slaw and rice.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Uncooked shrimp (approx. 1lb or 20-24 small/medium shrimp)
2 TBSP flour
1 TBSP Misfit Spices Bring’ Heat (and a little extra to kick it up a notch)
1-2 TSP olive oil
Bag of coleslaw mix and your favorite Asian-style salad dressing
Rice
Now let’s get cooking!
Before you start the shrimp, marinate your coleslaw. Put the coleslaw mix in a large bowl and add about 1/4 cup of your favorite Asian dressing to the mix. Stir the slaw occasionally. (We used an Asian Ginger Sesame dressing that was delish.)
Get your rice going next. We like quick meals and opted for some Minute Rice, but you could opt for jasmine rice, brown rice, or a healthy grain of your choice like quinoa.
Pat the shrimp dry and add them to a bowl.
Coat them with your flour (about 2 TBSP) and Misfit Spices Bringin’ Heat (about 1 TBSP)
Put a large pan over medium-high heat with your choice of oil (about 2 TSP)
Saute the shrimp for about 2 minutes per side. This is where we decided to kick it up a notch and add a little more Misfit Spices Bringin’ Heat.
Get the rice in your bowls and top it with your blackened Misfit shrimp. Finish the dish off with some of your Asian slaw on the side. (Optional: drizzle your shrimp with a spicy sauce like the one we used; Tattoo Japanese Togarashi Hot Sauce)
ENJOY!
